Our Denomination

Our church is active in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) for three primary reasons:

First, we believe there is strength and numbers and safety in community. Our denomination offers us a point of reference as we grow throughout the years and has been a useful sounding board anytime our church finds itself dealing with change.

Second, the SBC is a cooperative denomination of autonomous local churches. It is a denomination organized around commonality of mission and not a hierarchy of control. In the SBC, each church remains solely responsible before the Lord for its decisions and conduct.

Finally, we believe in world mission and in the cooperative way the SBC seeks to reach the peoples of the earth. For large and small churches alike, the Cooperative Program of the SBC helps us partner together so that all the nations may hear.
